L I F E Review
My family loves to watch movies, whether it be at the actual theater for a just-released film or catching up on one at home from a few months ago. We tend to watch a movie every week and sometimes even more than once a week. Today my brother had some friends over which left the rest of us - my mom, dad and myself - to find something to do. My mom scrolled through the movies on Spectrum and she found LIFE.
I remember watching the trailer when it first came out and I thought then it would be a really great movie. I was right.
The movie started off with an introduction to the team and their mission - they had been sent into space to intercept the unmanned Pilgrim 7 space probe, which has soil samples from Mars. The main scientist, Hugh, then proceeded to try and reanimate a dormant cell they found in the soil sample. He was able to get it to animate and it started to grow eventually becoming a multi-celled organism. At this point, they thought they had made a breakthrough and shared their findings with Earth. For some odd reason, everyone on Earth got too excited and got middle school children involved, by this I mean they asked them questions and one of them named the alien "Calvin."
It was after this things went crazy and to avoid saying any spoilers I will not continue describing the plot. Let me just say that this movie had me and my family looking through fingers, it was absolutely terrifying in the best way. I highly recommend you all watching it if you haven't already. (It was also really cool to see Ryan Renolds in a more serious role.)

I've seen this movie too! I would say it's a must-watch for anyone interested in sci-fi thrillers. I didn't watch the trailer beforehand so I didn't know what to expect. I must admit I wasn't particularly happy about the ending...
ReplyDeleteI saw this movie too! It was interesting but I feel like its one of those movies that I would only watch once. I was not totally hooked on the story, but I enjoyed watching it until the end. Watching movies is a great way to have family time when everyone can get caught up in there busy schedules.
ReplyDeleteYou had me at Ryan Reynolds! I haven't seen this movie, but I'm a huge fan of Mr. Reynolds so I already can tell that this is a great movie. What genre does this movie fall under- Sci-Fi ? Thriller? I just added it to my "movies to watch" bucket list. Thanks for the suggestion.
ReplyDeleteThis movie sounds super cool. It is really sweet you and your family do that! I don't think my family and I could manage to find a time for all of to sit down together for more than 30 minutes! I love that your family does!
ReplyDeleteI love discovering new movies, and it sounds like this one is great! I'm glad you and your family have movie time. That's awesome. I defiantly have to check this out sometime. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteMy family and I always go to movies as well. I think it is a great activity to do with family when you want to have a chill night. I had not heard of this movie, but after reading your post I want to watch it!
ReplyDeleteLove that you have that family tradition. My family is too impatient to sit down and watch a movie. Never seen life but i enjoyed the trailer.
ReplyDeleteI love movies, I'll definitely go check out this one! sounds like a really cool concept
